Welcome to the Shabbat -Celebration of Life home page.
We have dedicated this year to celebrating life.
They call us Generation Y. We are typified by our peer-oriented communication made possible by instant communication technologies like Facebook, twitter and Myspace. We have a reputation of being in contact with more people than ever before all at the same time! It is, when you think about it, truly amazing.
But being in contact with so many people in so many ways, often drains our ability to develop and improve the relationships with those who are really important to us.
Parents are shocked to find their kids expressing themselves about things and in ways they never thought possible for their children, not to them directly of course, but to an online audience made up of peers, bloggers and random net surfers. Generation Y needs to Y’nd down (wind down).
Imagine a day once a week that was dedicated to the most important and beautiful relationships that exist. A day spent in the company of ones family and closest friends and community. A day dedicated to celebrating life as apposed to chasing it, a meaningful, peaceful day where contact and information is shared with only those who really matter.
Shabbat, the Divinely ordained day of rest has become the antidote for the shortcomings of trying to keep up with life.
Shabbat has been described as an “Island in time”. A gift from above that permits us to hang up on the outside and re-connect with the inside. Shabbat grants us time for ourselves, our G-d, our family and friends, to refocus on life and its meaning for the weeks ahead.
As has been said by many insightful Jewish leaders past and present:
“More than the Jews have kept the Shabbat, The Shabbat has kept the Jews”.
Please enjoy the site and make the most of it.
Shabbat Shalom
